I use snapz for capturing web pages for keynote presentations and I had the same problem when I came to edit the movies. The quality was beautiful in their original quicktime format - pants in imovie!

The quick and dirty solution i came up with was to trim and edit within quicktime pro which works pretty well. The only thing is the files are so damn huge!

If there were a way to edit with imove and compress a little that would be great.

I'll try your export tips above...

Jeff,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into the anamorphic bit. It may be superfluous, but my head was spinning by the time I finally figured out how to just get some decent video.

I'll check out IShowU, too. Thanks for the tip.

Joe, this article you put together has saved me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Using this method means I can edit with the movie I've created and not have to render and re-render every time I make the slightest tweak to the movie, whether it be rotation, scale, or keyframed motion. Hours have been saved.

I did find however that I don't need to do the whole 16:9 Anamorphic part you mentioned. The sequence type I use in Final Cut Pro is Uncompressed 10-Bit. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Someone buy this man a drink!!!

Jeff

PS. There's another program called IShowU that is working on doing the same thing Snapz Pro does, but with it being very Final Cut Pro friendly. Let's hope they succeed.
